Social Events
Highlands prides itself on its fun family community. While the Whomping Turtles take swimming seriously, we are even more dedicated to making the team fun for all members. To help encourage this fun team environment, the Highlands Swim Team will host several pep rallies and social events throughout the summer. All team members are welcome and encouraged to come out to these events, have some fun, and get to know the people that make our community the best in the Northern Virginia Swim League.
Pep Rallies
Each Friday evening before an A meet, Highlands Swim Team has a Pep Rally in the Upper Grassy Area beginning at 5:30 pm. Swimmers enjoy spirited activities, cheers, and team bonding. Parents enjoy socializing. Dinner is also served.
Team Lunches
Following A Home Meets at Highlands, lunch is provided for swimmers and their families.
Bagel Mondays
Time to carbo-load after practice. Swimmers are served bagels after each age group’s Monday morning practice.
Pancake Fridays
A swimmer favorite! Swimmers load up on pancakes and toppings after each age group’s Friday morning practice.
10 & Under Activities
There are numerous activities throughout the season for our younger swimmers. Making posters and crafts, penny dives, and other activities are scheduled following morning swim practices.
Penny Dive
A highly entertaining activity (to participate in as well as watch!) for our swimmers. Our Turtles clammer for sunken treasure (pennies) and win prizes.
13+ Progressive Dinner
A special evening for our teenage swimmers to don their fancy attire and have a night out together in a more formal environment. All swimmers who are 13 (by early August of the current season) are invited to attend.
Awards Banquet
Our end-of-season dinner and awards night is for all swimmers, families, and coaches. The slide show provided by our own Highlands Photographers is always a crowd favorite!
